Towel Thief

Andrew is a towel thief.  It all started about two months ago when Brian noticed Andrew would grab the hand towel from the oven handle while Brian was washing his hands.  At the beginning we weren't sure if it was a coincidence or if Andrew was doing it on purpose, but within a few days it became clear that it was deliberate: Andrew was stealing the towel and running away with it so that Brian couldn't dry his hands off.  Now it's a fun game they play with Andrew usually bringing the towel to Daddy.  If Andrew isn't paying attention, Brian will sometimes call to him from the sink  "Andrew, I'm washing my hands!".  Andrew will laugh and race for the towel to grab it, then Brian will take it from him and toss it on his head.

Andrew's Words at 17 Months

Andrew is 17 months old.  When I traced his handprint on Brian's birthday card, I had to count to figure that out and was surprised at the number.  Brian also wondered "17 months?  Really?" when he opened his card.  So my poor under-documented third child is almost a year and a half old, and most of his early toddlerhood will be lost in the recesses of Brian and my poor memories.  But here's something at least, his current vocabulary:

Owie (This is his brand-newest word, first said yesterday in response to some bad sore spots on his feet.  Its also said in a pitiful voice and accompanied by a hurt expression designed to elicit as much sympathy as possible.)

Dada, Daddy
Mama, Mommy
Hi-ee (Hi)
Nana (he uses "Nana" as his name for Grandmother, Gran and Nana, and also for bananas:) )
Ni-ni (Night, night)
Na-Na (this one is for Nathan, with a long A sound)
Unh, Eee (His general, all purpose sounds.  The "Eee" gets especially excited and high-pitched when he spots a bug on the ground.)
Dee-ah, dee-ah (his favorite nonsense word)

And a bonus tidbit: I want to remember that I absolutely LOVE how he says goodnight to the family before bed.  Brian has been putting him to bed lately, and after Andrew's in his pjs he will come out and tell us all "ni-ni".  He butts heads with the big kids (his way of hugging) and gives us all kisses on our cheeks.  Similarly, he also is really good about giving any of the family (including grandparents) sweet goodbyes - head butting peoples' legs for a hug, or giving kisses when he's at face level.  He is such a sweet boy.  Love you buddy!
